I was impressed with the decor, but I got seated in the back corner near the sushi cooler, which, for me, was not appetizing. The pre-meal salad was disappointing, but the soup was pretty good. The entree (teriyaki beef and shrimp) tasted great and had good quality meat, but the meal was very overpriced, especially since it was supposedly a lunch special. I paid over $17 for the meal, a hot tea (no refills), and my tip. The service was great, and my server was very attentive.

This week I am reviewing a great restaurant in Johnson City,IMG_0624 Tennessee. Hana Japanese Steakhouse is easy to miss if you're not looking, but if you've found it, you know it's good. The atmosphere is relaxing with dim lighting and soft music playing, but it's also a fun place to be, especially at the Hibachi grill!IMG_0625 I ordered the NY Strip Hibachi; watching the chef was so entertaining and the food was so fresh. It was the best fried rice I have ever had, and all the flavors wentIMG_0629 together so well. What's also important at restaurants is comfortable seating, and Hana Japanese Steakhouse has the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat in, and I believe it's because of the hole in the back - take a look at the picture! If you want quality Japanese Hibachi or sushi in a comfortable, inviting setting, check this place out! IMG_0631 Hana Japanese Steakhouse is open for lunch Monday through Friday from 11am-2:30pm, and for dinner Monday through Thursday 4-10pm, Friday's 4-10:30pm, Saturday's 12-10:30pm, and Sunday's 12-10pm.

This is my third time at Hana Steak House, and every time it has been amazing! Their sushi is delicious, and the hibachi grill is entertaining to watch. The fried rice is the absolute best I have ever had, and they prepare steaks perfectly. Hana Steak House is right next to the Kroger off Browns Mill - it's not hard to find, but it's not exactly in plain sight either. This is not a restaurant you want to skip! The food is delicious and the atmosphere is friendly and comfortable. (Also their chairs are super comfy)

Great place to eat. Doesn't look like much from the parking lot, but it will not disappoint when you go inside. Food is wonderful, chefs are great and the owners are always out among the patrons. I see many many more visits to this fine restaurant in my future!

Food is fantastic, great atmosphere for a family dinner. The chefs are great entertainment for all ages. Dinner and a show... What could be better?

You know a meal was good when you're still thinking about it the next day. I went for lunch with a large group (11 people) from my church. I noticed that they had a lot of selections on their lunch menu including sushi, Bento boxes, and the Hibachi grill. I ordered the Chicken Hibachi because I love chicken, but they also had steak, scallops, shrimp, and salmon available in addition to a vegetarian Hibachi. Our chef had lots of personality and put on a great show complete not only with flaming onion volcano but also the rhythmic tapping of the cooking utensils, and he did it with a smile always on his face. The food was seasoned perfectly and tasted great. The prices, though not in the bargain lunch category, were very reasonable. Highly recommend, especially if you are looking for a place to entertain company.

I've eaten a lot of sushi in my travels and this has to rank as one of the worst experiences. Cafe one 11 was closed (my regular sushi spot when visiting Johnson City) so I tried Hana based off of reviews and pictures. Inside is really nice and hibachi looked good, but do not order sushi. I had tuna nigiri and octopus nigiri (which came with eel sauce on it?!?!? I also witnessed the chef trying to moisturize the octopus with a wet paper towel).

I've been to Hana once before today and everything was really good except for being scolded on stacking my dishes. I went back today for half off sushi and waited at the host stand for 3 to 5 minutes before being sat, the hostess didn't say anything except "Two?", and took us to a table right next to another table in a rather empty restaurant (a total of maybe 3 or 4 tables). The server came to the table fairly quickly for drinks but walked around doing anything else but taking our order for the next 10 to 15 minutes when we were clearly ready to go. We decided to leave and patiently waited for the server to come back from chatting with guests at the bar. We told him we were just going to leave and he said "Ok." No apology or any kind of hospitality. The hostess did not thank us, but only stared, as we left the building. I'm not one to complain or write negative reviews unless warranted. I've been a server and bartender for the last 4 and a half years and am privy to how service should be. They need to work on their manners and hospitality, especially if they are going to be in the service industry. I'm really disappointed.
